The Central Alta trailhead is the launching point to access spectacular terrain in Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons, including Cardiff Fork (via Cardiff Pass), Toledo Bowl, Flagstaff Mountain, Days Fork, etc.

Located 8.0 miles up the Little Cottonwood Canyon road, the Central Alta trailhead is located on the left (north) side of the road just up-canyon of the Our Lady of the Snows church and just down-canyon from the Shallow Shaft restaurant.

This trailhead is occasionally closed during avalanche mitigation—it is critical that we respect these closures.
