White Fir Pass, between Bowman Fork and Yellow Jacket Gulch, provides spectacular views of upper Porter Fork with relatively low avalanche hazard (although a few steep gullies do cross the skin track). This route is popular with snowshoers and is a summer hiking trail.

From the Porter Fork trailhead, follow the cabin road for approximately 15 minutes to signs mentioning lots 1B and 4B. Take that driveway, on your left, which switches back and heads into Bowman Fork. After a while the trail heads right and climbs to the White Fir Pass.
