The Cardiff Fork trailhead is located 8.8 miles past the digital sign at the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon. There is ample parking on the right side of the Big Cottonwood road. A brown building that is next to the parking lot, on the right side of the road, houses public restrooms.
The Cardiff Fork Road, which is gated in the winter, starts at the southeast corner of the parking lot.
About the Name
Cardiff Fork is also known as Mill D South Fork and the street signs mention Jordan Pines. In the summer most people know this as the entrance to Donut Falls and in the winter it's commonly known as the sledding area. The flat area near the entrance to Cardiff Fork is named Reynolds Flat. Yes, this is the place (as we say in Utah) for all of these.
