It is a long trek to Murdock Peak via Mill Creek Canyon.
Park at the Maple Grove trailhead and follow the Mill Creek Canyon road to the Big Water trailhead. From the Big Water parking lot, head due East until you are just south of Murdock Peak and then head up either Dead Tree or the South Murdock Bowl.

There is a gate at the top of the Super Condor chairlift that is used to gain access to the inbounds terrain above the gate, but I have been told (repeatedly) that this is not a backcountry gate and that it is illegal to access the Murdock Peak area from that gate (i.e., to duck the rope above the boot pack). Apparently, the only legal access is from the Peak 5 chairlift which is so far away as to be impractical.
It seems ludicrous that Park City Mountain Resort can prevent people from accessing public land. I have been told their concern is people coming back in area and starting an avalanche. Okay, limit return access.
If you were to break the law, you would park at Canyons Village, ride the Orange Bubble chairlift, and then ride the Super Condor chairlift.
From the top of the Super Condor chairlift you would ski about 1,000 feet straight ahead to the not-a-backcountry gate that provides access to what Park City calls Murdock Bowl (the location of Murdock Peak on the Park City trail map is a bit creative).
You would boot up the trail for about 10 minutes until you reach a flattish area (there is a ski patrol toboggan here). You would break the law, duck the rope, put on your skins, and skin the gentle ridge up-and-to-your-right to Murdock Peak. On the way you'll pass Forever (North) Bowl, Dirt Chute, and Todd's Bowl on your right. You would not return to the ski area using this route.
