Brighton Trail Map

Brighton's high base elevation of 8,730 feet makes it a popular location for early- and late-season turns. Keep in mind that ski areas do not perform avalanche mitigation when they are closed—it's almost inevitable that the first avalanche accidents of the year occur within ski area boundaries before avalanche control work has begun. Also, know that Brighton has an uphill policy, albeit restrictive.

History

Brighton was the first ski resort in Utah. It started operations in 1936 when the Alpine Ski Club built a rope tow using wire and a motor from an old elevator. The ski area was named after Catherine and William Brighton who opened the Brighton Hotel in 1874. Learn more about the development of Brighton.
